SUMMARY:

Collections Specialist III assists the Finance department in minimizing time elapsed between invoice billing and payments collected for transportation, warehouse and logistics accounts. Primary job function requires exceptional customer focus while monitoring and reducing DSO of a portfolio of assigned accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts by:

  • Contact customers for payment of past due invoices via verbal and written communication.

    2. Contact customers required to pay a deposit or prepayment for upcoming jobs.

    3. Enlist help from Sales and/ or Operations when issues arise that impede timely payment of invoices.

    4. Notify management when customers refuse to pay, and referring accounts to In House Counsel or 3 rd party collection agency.

    5.Troubleshoot customer concerns on invoices as needed to resolve obstacles to payment.

    6. Report progress on collections by account at collections meetings as required. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, suppliers and others in a courteous and professional manner.

    7.Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities.

    8. Participate in process improvement projects as required.

    9. Collect on other Business Entities such as Logistics.

    10.Take responsibility for Billing/ Collecting and managing remaining House Hold Accounts.

    11.Conform with and abide by all safety rules, regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.

    12. Assist with Training of New employees.

    13. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Some overtime may be required.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Over 8 years' experience in a fast paced B2B Collections environment, preferably in a service based industry.

    Associate Degree and/or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.

    Excellent computer skills, including advanced Excel knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

    Familiarity with Great Plains software is a plus.

    Experience with process improvement teams is a plus.

    The successful candidate must have the ability to exercise independent judgement, utilize problem solving skills, be able to meet deadlines, have exceptional organizational skills be able to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships through excellent written and verbal communication.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

    CAP Certification is a plus
