Job Description:
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an

RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general supervision with limited review,
this position is responsible for determining and developing
effective approaches for resolving a wide range of difficult
engineering problems.Assignments are normally outlined in terms of
overall objectives and anticipated results.Work is reviewed at
milestones or at completion for adequacy in meeting
objectives.Develop and implement system improvements to maintain
process excellence with particular emphasis on Measurement &
Analysis.Develop innovative and practical solutions to advanced and
unique process problems through the use of quality best practices
(i.e. Six-Sigma, Lean Methods).Work with integrated teams to
measurably enhance overall business practices and processes.Develop
and document procedures and action plans to define new systems and
continually improve existing systems.Participate in CMMI appraisals
and AS9100 audits.Documents findings, communicates results to
engineering staff and makes technical presentations as required.May
coordinate segments of a specific project and may have frequent
inter- organization and customer contact on difficult technical
issues.Provides direction to design or technical staff and may
provide direction to less experienced professional staff.Supports
operation of engineering systems by evaluating and interpreting
needs and problems and develops effective approaches to resolving
those issues.Troubleshoots, analyzes, and repairs systems in
assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific
principles.Provides documentation and makes technical presentations
as required.Directs the activities of designers, technicians and
may direct the activities of less experienced professional
staff.May represent the organization in providing solutions to
technical issues associated with specific projects.Maintains the
strict confidentiality of sensitive information.Performs other
duties as assigned.Responsible for observing all laws, regulations,

requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering
or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution
and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more
years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of
experience with a masters degree.May substitute equivalent
engineering experience in lieu of education. B.S., B.A. or M.S
degree in science, math business or technical field plus 5-10 years
quality systems and/or engineering experience working in a
technical industry such as aerospace, semiconductor manufacturing,
or communications is preferredFormal training in 6 Sigma and strong
background in measurement and analysis development and
reporting.Must have a complete understanding of engineering
concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a
broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of
principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical
specialties.Must possess the ability to understand new concepts
quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment;
organize, schedule, and coordinate work phasesDetermine the
appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the
project level to provide solutions to a range of complex
problems.Must have excellent communication, computer,
documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills, ability to
work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex
tasks in one engineering areaLead a team of less experienced
professional employees on semi-routine tasks.A Professional
Engineering License is desirable.Process implementation
experience.Familiarity with hardware and software development,
subcontract management, manufacturing, inspection, test, project
engineering, and program management.Ability to develop creative
solutions to complex systems issues.Database management skills.Must
be a team player with superior interpersonal, verbal, and written
communication skills and interface effectively throughout all
levels of the company. Demonstrable knowledge of process
implementation, statistics, and structured problem-solving methods.
Green or Black Belt Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing is
desiredProduct Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool experience, Access,
SharePoint, SAP and/or Oracle experience desiredMust be able to
obtain and maintain a Secret ClearanceSalary:$81,080 - $141,650 Job
