As a supervisor of engineers in the Payload, Analysis, and Environmental Test group you will have the opportunity to lead the development of a range of innovative payload and pod system solutions that directly impact the success of our customers. You will have the opportunity to shape the future of our engineering capabilities in a broad range of payloads systems, as well as the integration and operation of payloads into our aircraft or pods. Serving in both a technical expert and leadership role, you will have the opportunity to guide the planning, execution, and oversight of innovative projects to meet a wide array of customer goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Lead the engineering design, analysis, environmental testing, integration, manufacturing, and fielding of aircraft payloads and podded systems, including EOIR turrets, radar, Electronic Warfare (EW), radios, antennas, and related components.


  • Through team supervision and individual contribution, perform component, assembly, and system testing and analysis, document findings, communicate results, prepare technical presentations, and represent the organization as a lead payload technical contact.


  • Oversee and assist in the completion of program deliverables such as component and assembly designs, test plans and reports, analysis documentation, and other deliverables to meet program objectives, requirements, and schedule.


  • Troubleshoot various payload-related systems including EOIR turrets, radar, Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, radios, antennas, and related components.


  • Review various manufacturing processes and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues.


  • Collaborate and effectively interact with peers, technical team members, senior management, peers from other engineering disciplines, and external personnel on technical matters requiring communication and coordination to solve complex challenges.


  • Prepare and review engineering documentation for delivery to peers, technical staff, executive management, and customers.


  • Perform work either individually, as team supervisor, or in other team environments.


  • Provide guidance, direction, and leadership to design or technical staff.


  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.


  • Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.


  • Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices


  • Other duties as assigned or required.

    Job Qualifications:


    • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; fifteen or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, thirteen or more years of experience with a masters degree, or ten or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.


    • Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.


    • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals; the capability of representing the organization as a prime technical contact; and, the ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.


    • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self- initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.


    • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance.


    • A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium, and invited and/or participated on an engineering review panel are desirable.


    • Desired qualifications


    • Four (4) or more years of experience related specifically to environmental testing including modal, vibration, shock, thermal, and salt fog.


    • Experience leading technical teams in a design development or engineering test environment.


    • Have a thorough understanding of wide range of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.


    • Have excellent communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.


    • Ability to recognize roadblocks or issues and suggest an appropriate course of action for prevention or resolution.


    • Able to adapt and react quickly to changes and challenges.


    • Experience working with Solidworks, CREO, Windchill, NX, and Teamcenter.


    • Proficient with structural, dynamic, and thermal FEA analysis techniques, as well as experience working with FEA tools such as Ansys Structural and Icepak.


    • Have a thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), as well as tolerance stack-up techniques.
