Position Description: Degenkolb is again offering a summer internship program for future engineers! The goal of this program is to give students an understanding of how a structural engineering practice operates to complement academic training and to create a recruitment pipeline. We are fortunate to hire many former interns full-time after they complete their studies. Internships are available in our California offices (Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Francisco). Applicants may indicate interest in multiple locations on a single application. Ideal Candidate : A high-achieving current Senior or Graduate student (undergraduate GPA 3.40 or above) with a passion for structural engineering. Interest in seismic analysis is strongly preferred. If you're graduating from your master's program in spring 2026 your are not eligible for our internship program and should apply for our Designer role. Compensation : The pay rate for this position, across the various offices, ranges between $32 - $38.50 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate pursuant to pay transparency laws. Actual pay rates will be based on various factors, including company geographic differentials, education level, and candidate qualifications. As an intern, you will work on active project teams, gaining exposure to clients, design challenges, and firm culture . Minimum Requirements : Must be a full-time Civil Engineering student currently in your Senior year who is planning to continue directly into a Structural Engineering graduate program, OR a current Graduate student in Structural Engineering. Demonstrated passion for structural and seismic analysis (or steel design in Michigan). Strong performance in upper division civil/structural engineering courses (Undergraduate GPA 3.40). Active participation in extracurricular and/or leadership roles. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
