Teledyne is EveryWhereYouLook! www.teledynemarine.com Position Summary and Responsibilities Plans and directs all operations activities in the organization including Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Material Planning/Control, Facilities and EHS. Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve quality. The Operations Director will establish goals, set priorities and coordinate all operational activities to ensure the operations team meets or exceeds established business objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • SAFETY - Maintains a safe work environment, a high level of safety awareness among associates, and implements 6S principles.
  • QUALITY - Provides guidance, direction and leadership to ensure that products and deliverable documentation are manufactured/created with the highest level of quality in a safe and timely manner that will meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • CUSTOMER - Lead 'Customer Delight' mission for Operations team by relentlessly working to improve execution, improve frequency and credibility of information provided to internal and external customers.
  • LEAN MFG/SWOT - Conducts fact-based analysis using lean techniques to create value and manage to a future state that eliminates waste and drives continuous process improvement related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, MWC and productivity.
  • PLAN ATTAINMENT - Oversee monthly and quarterly forecasts of performance against budget, financial and operation goals.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, engineering and quality assurance activities to a chieve operational objectives that improve quality, on time delivery and lead time improvements to customers.
  • Formulates and recommends manufacturing policies and programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation.
  • Lead sales and operations planning in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Responsible for all aspects of material management to meet production targets, mitigate risk, meet unexpected demand, while managing inventory effectively and meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets.
  • Develop strategies that improve overall supply chain activities that align with the various product lines.
  • Management of working capital - Inventory Turns, E&O, etc.
  • Create an environment that embraces continuous improvement practices that lead to the elimination of waste and non-value add work.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels in the organization and across functional teams.
  • Ensure appropriate reporting tools are in place to monitor results, with a focus of driving continual improvement, efficiency and effectiveness of key business processes.
  • Responsible for preparing and presenting operational scorecard and high-level presentations to senior leadership and corporate executives.
  • Lead operations strategic planning processes, from development to implementation, ensuring all business plans, operating and capital budgets support the division's goals.
  • Conduct performance reviews and set goals. Understand and recommend staffing changes as appropriate. Recommend promotions or terminations as required. Identify talent gaps and develop succession plans.
  • Drive improvement in overall team leadership and engagement, ensuring the best team is in place to drive growth, while maintaining and improving the culture.
  • Works to avoid erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results that may cause scrap, rework, use of excessive overtime, and/or delays in schedules.
  • Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines. Supervisory Responsibilities This job provides leadership and management to functional area(s) which may include supervision of managers and supervisors and direct supervision of other exempt and non-exempt personnel. Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include providing leadership to employees, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related discipline and 10 years' of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree highly preferred and may substitute for 2 years' experience. Position requires a minimum of 7 years' supervisory/management experience. Other Qualifications:
    • Experience in the management of operations within a low volume, high mix, electronics manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in implementing lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Developing operations strategies with a clear focus on improved KPIs and improved bottom line performance.
    • Excellent project management, organization, leadership and communication (written and verbal) along with presentation skills to effectively interface with all levels inside and outside of the organization
    • Ability to think strategically, analytically and tactically in a fast paced high performance work environment
    • Ability to learn and understand complex technical requirements
    • Ability to adapt to, drive change, and maintain a positive attitude
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver results.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely business decisions.
    • Experience implementing effective cost reduction strategies. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and/or legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to senior/Corporate management and customers. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced computer skills including ERP systems and MS Office including MS Excel and MS Word.
