Lifeguard Instructor The Head Lifeguard responsibilities include; overseeing, instructing, planning and assessing the personnel who have been allocated to a swimming facility and executing lifeguard activities. He/She trains the new hires and supervises the operations that are executed in a swimming pool. He/She may help with facility programming and events. He/She manages the cleanliness and maintenance of the facility and mechanical pump area(s)/room(s) when applicable. He/She acts as liaise between the facility and The Swimming Swan LLC. management team in regards to staffing, equipment, uniforms and other additional needs. Head Lifeguard III Qualifications Must be a minimum of 21 years of age with a High school Diploma or equivalent. Current and valid ARC or equivalent certification including but not limited to: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED. Current LGIT Lifeguard Instructor Trainer Certification. ARC Online Lifeguard Management Certification for all Facility Partnerships. This is a $120 Certification that will be reimbursed after 4 months of employment. This must be obtained prior to becoming Head Lifeguard at a Facility. 5 year(s) lifeguard experience in a leadership role preferred. Ability to pass pre-employment verbal skills test Ability to pass swim and in-water skills test. Ability to successfully complete The Swimming Swan LLC. "On-Boarding" Training and Testing. All applicants are subject to background screenings and drug testing. Flexible schedule required. Strong customer service background preferred. Head Lifeguard Responsibilities: First in line of communication to both the Partnership Site Contact and The Swimming Swan Management team Act as Lifeguard and Supervises Lifeguards including but not limited to scheduling, personal issues/concerns, employee productivity and in-service trainings. All training and team branding is based upon The Swimming Swan LLC., criteria. Proper documentation will be maintained towards new hire, quarterly, semi-annual and annual performance evaluations. Lifeguards are trained using the facility-specific equipment to perform the water rescues in the facility. Lifeguards should also be equipped with protective equipment, lifeguarding rescue equipment and resuscitation equipment, including resuscitation masks and BVMs. Ensure that the a Facility Partnership that you are assigned too is in compliance with the law and unsafe conditions are addressed. The shape and size of the lifeguard zones are lifeguard stations are appropriate to provide for adequate patron surveillance and response times to victims in the water. Teaching Lifeguard Certification Courses at our partnership facilities. Certification courses are only offered at specific locations. Opening and closing daily procedures including but not limited to completed Daily Tasks Sheets. Procedures dependent on schedule and hours including maintenance of chemicals and pump room areas where applicable. Plans, organizes and leads special events at the pool utilizing staff and volunteers where applicable. Monitors pool-related activities closely throughout shift and identifies any special issues. Uses judgement to determine if patrons are safely and properly conducting themselves. Completes and submits incident reports and documentation forms when applicable. Directs swimmers our of the pool and/or to clear the deck during hazardous conditions. Monitors weather reports closely to ensure safety of guests. Adheres to and upholds The Swimming Swan LLC., "Inclement weather" policies and procedures. Maintains a clean environment in and around the pool. Leads in organization and monitoring of pool parties or rentals. Provides assistance to patrons when appropriate or necessary. Head Lifeguarding Manager Benchmarks: Lifeguard managers should ensure that; The appropriate employees on-site are trained in pool operations, water quality testing and water treatment. The facility has inclement weather and recreational water illness policies and procedures. Zones are clearly identified and posted for different staffing levels, as well as for different activities and different times of day or other considerations, such as to account for glare. Drills are conducted to test zones Conduct Ask Drills Conduct Live Action Recognition Drills Conduct Lifeguard Station Response Time Testing Lifeguards get regular breaks from surveillance duty to help stay alert and decrease fatigue. Rest and meal breaks should be factored into the rotation. Defined policies and procedures for aquatic programs and groups are available. Records, reports and safety checklists are maintained. A facility-specific exposure control plan is implemented and maintained. Lifeguards practice the appropriate spinal backboarding technique(s) at a variety of locations within the facility where spinal injuries are most likely to oc COVID-19 precautions Personal protective equipment provided or required Plastic shield at work stations Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place
