With limited management consultation, this position, serving as a recognized authority, conceptualizes and articulates innovative resolutions to highly technical and complex engineering problems. Often functioning in a leadership role, the position may direct the planning and oversight of projects and will represent the Propulsion Systems group and Mechanical Engineering organization through technical presentations and documents. The position requires engineering knowledge, leadership, and project management, and may require participating in attracting and retaining engineering business and professional staff.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Participate in the design, manufacture, test, and integration of propulsion systems and associated aircraft systems such as fuel and oil for remotely piloted aircraft.Conceptualize and articulate innovative solutions to highly technical and complex engineering problems.Provide field service support by acting as a subject matter expert for the propulsion system and associated components and systems.Mentor professional and support staff in technical and professional growth.Interact with senior level internal and external personnel on technical matters requiring coordination between organizations.Provide leadership, direction, and guidance for research into the solution of engineering problems.Advise or direct the implementation of engineering solutions, including strategic objectives and timetables.Prepare and present design reviews and other technical materials to executive management.Act as spokesperson and represent the technical capabilities of the propulsion group.Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.Will work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.Other duties as assigned or required.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.Job Qualifications:Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree.May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education. Direct experience with aircraft propulsion systems and associated fluid conveyance systems such as fuel and oil systems.Working knowledge of fluid dynamics, heat transfer, aircraft utility functions, and propulsion systems.Understanding of military standards, specs, and configuration control.Customer focused; development of innovative new designs and solutions that meet customer requirements.Experience with FAR, EASA, or other airworthiness certification.NX or CREO modeling, drawing review, and drafting experience.Familiarity with GD and tolerance stack up methodology.Working knowledge of MS Office.Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance.
