Lead a group of electrical engineers and support staff in the
design and development of automation controls solutions for
semiconductor handling equipment.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: Design, develop and
maintains automation control solutions, including electronic
systems, components, circuitry and systems integration for
semiconductor test handling equipment.
Work on challenging new products or enhancements to existing
Participate in all phases of the assigned projects, including
design, testing and integration of electro-mechanical systems.
Follow established engineering procedures and specifications for
design and development of analog and digital circuits, electrical
components and electrical systems.
Investigate, select and test vendor products for use in multiple
Support manufacturing floor as required.
Interface with customers and sales on projects as required.
Work independently or collaborate with cross-disciplinary team
members to find the best, cost effective engineering design
Supervisory Responsibility: May provide work leadership and
training to lower level technical or professional employees.
Education/Training: B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related
discipline from an accredited four-year college or university. M.S.
degree a plus but not required.
Experience: Minimum of eight years relevant electrical engineering
experience. Experience in automation, machine design, semiconductor
test handlers, is a plus.
Design ExperienceMotor and drive selection to match mechanical and
motion performance requirements
Motion system architecture for device handlers
Temperature control systems with single feedback
Development of engineering design specifications and test
Integration ExperienceSetting up, tuning and profiling multi axis
servo and stepper motion
Analog and digital I/O control for pneumatics valves, sensors,
actuators and other discrete controls
CANopen, EtherCAT automation network protocols
Skills/Technical Requirements: Strong control system theory (large
system with subassemblies) and system integration
Power electronics/power systems and power distribution systems
Industrial equipment design-machine design, semiconductor test
handler experience (preference for pick and place)
Experience with servo motors - tuning servo motors (nice to
R&D, Design of Experiment, Failure Analysis, V&V
Knowledge of Industry Regulatory and Safety Standards (CE, SEMI,
Ability to work cross functionally with Mechanical, Software,
Manufacturing and Field Engineers
Interface with Customers and Sales to define requirements
Ability to design and layout custom PCB
Embedded firmware, software and microcontroller a plus
Communication BUS - CanOpen and EtherCAT a plus
Ability to write Engineering design specifications and test
Ability to specify and source components such as motion control
hardware, communication modules and temperature controllers.
Ability to define requirements, set schedule, and work
independently on projects and interface effectively with other team
Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of good engineering practices and the ability to follow
existing guidelines and processes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with schematic capture programs such as ORCAD and

50% -- Sustaining EE work on existing products/handlers (CPI)-new
options, support technical support and field service. Respond to
supply chain issues
20% -- Support for legacy products - machines installed at customer
sites - interface with engineering team in Melaka, Malaysia
30% -- New product development (senior more time on NPD)
